Overview

Welcome to the Doula Help Desk, where we are committed to supporting the growth and success of doulas, connecting them to healthcare systems, and ensuring families receive the highest quality of compassionate care.

As a resource hub, our mission is to empower doulas by providing them with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to thrive in their profession. Whether you’re a seasoned doula looking for professional development or a new doula seeking guidance and community, we’re here to help.

Doulas play a critical role in improving maternal and infant health outcomes, particularly for underserved populations such as BIPOC and immigrant families. Despite their importance, doulas often face challenges, so we are creating a Help Desk to help doulas feel supported.

Mission

Here at O Communi T Doula Help Desk, our mission is to offer guidance, support, and assistance for the administrative and billing processes for doulas, empowering them to navigate systems and focus on delivering exceptional care to their clients. In addition to operational support, we provide mentorship opportunities to guide doulas in growing their expertise and confidence in the field. Our goal is to create a supportive environment where doulas can thrive professionally while making a lasting impact on the families they serve.

Challenges Faced By Doulas

Community-based maternal health faces major challenges, including limited professional support, systemic healthcare barriers, inconsistent funding, and deep-rooted inequities. These obstacles hinder access to quality care, particularly for BIPOC women and undeserved communities.

Services

O Community Doulas offers a wide variety of services that may cater to the various needs of our clients.

Payment for doula services through Medi-Cal, private insurance, or other funding sources remains inconsistent, leading to financial instability.

Claims being denied due to incorrect or missing information and long response times all contribute to doulas feeling frustrated and at times defeated.

At the Doula Help Desk, we offer a variety of training programs designed to support both new doulas entering the profession and experienced doulas seeking to expand their knowledge and skills.

Our training programs are designed to provide comprehensive education and hands-on experience to ensure that doulas are equipped to provide the highest quality care to families.

Doulas frequently face challenges in achieving formal recognition and integration within traditional healthcare systems, resulting in a lack of alignment and collaboration between their services and healthcare providers. Here at O Community Doulas we want to bridge the gap between healthcare providers and doulas by cultivating a relationship centered around client care.
